Dating Sites and Their Apps

Times are changing. More often than not, people are finding significant others through online dating sites. And that’s okay now. If you look back even fifteen years ago, finding a date online was considered, more or less, taboo. These days, if you can find someone who hasn’t met someone online, it’s like finding a unicorn. Along with these sites are apps. If you’re communicating with someone and you happen to be on the go, the app that coincides with the site you’re a member of is perfect for you.

Apps for dating sites have only been developed in recent years, considering everyone relies so much on the technology that their phones and tablets provide. To keep up with the member, sites have had to adapt to their needs. Some dating apps are just apps. We’re connected to our phones for what seems like 99% of the time and dating companies have had to adapt and market toward a greater audience because of it. These apps have lately become moderately successful and some haven’t been noticed as much as others. We’re here to change that.

Chances are, you’ve heard of Skout. Much like Tinder, Skout is a location-based social networking and dating application. It also has a website,, and instead of having to chat with someone who’s halfway across the world, the site and app have made it much easier to find and chat with someone in your area. Shout uses your cellphone’s GPS to aide users in locating other users within a general radius of one another. The app allows users to instant message and send e-gifts to one another as well. Skout has reported that half a billion connections have been made in 2013 alone, and that number continues to grow. As an added feature, the company is also separated into two communities: adults and teens. Adults who are looking to find love can do just that, while teens can seek friends in their area.

Shout was originally founded as a mobile social networking site before also becoming the dating site it is today, but is still primarily used as an overall people finder. If love happens to blossom from finding friends, then the developers have no problem with that and counts that as a success story.

As mentioned before, dating sites and their apps have come a long way since the initial idea of them were first introduced. If you find yourself looking for someone to share your life with or just want a friend to hang out with on the weekends, you should no longer feel obligated to keep it to yourself. It’s perfectly acceptable.
