InnovaCare Health is a healthcare management company based in Fort Lee, New Jersey. This company is one of the premier providers of Medicare Advantage plans and Provider Networks in Puerto Rico. The core mission of InnovaCare Health is to provide quality healthcare that is coordinated, cost-effective, and innovative.The company serves over 200,000 people and a network of 7,500 providers. Two of the executive leaders of the company are President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Richard Shinto and Chief Operating Officer and Chief Administrative Officer Penelope Kokkinides.
Prior to coming to InnovaCare Health, Dr. Shinto was the President and CEO of Aveta, Inc., another managed healthcare company. Dr. Shinto has served in the healthcare field in both management and as a doctor as an Internist and Pulmonologist. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine and his Doctorate from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Subsequently, he obtained an MBA from the University of Redlands. Dr. Shinto has received a number of awards in his career on bizjournals.com, including the 2014 Access to Caring Award for recognition of his commitment to providing access and availability to health care for the underprivileged.
Penelope Kokkinides came back to InnovaCare Health in 2015, after having left the company for a time to pursue a career at Centerlight HealthCare as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Penelope Kokkinides has over 20 years experience in healthcare management with specialties in Medicare and Medicaid. Her educational background includes a Bachelors degree from Binghamton University. She has also attained two Masters degrees; one from New York University in Social Work and one from the Columbia University School of Public Health in Public Health. While at New York University Penelope Kokkinides graduated from a post master’s program in alcohol and substance abuse.
