Flavio Maluf : Promoting Environmentally friendly practices in South America
Flavio Maluf’s career began working for companies such as Citicorp in the pursuit of acquiring as much knowledge of the business world as possible. Although Flavio Maluf was very well educated with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation, his passion for business led him towards other ventures. Wanting to prove himself Mr.Maluf would join Eucatex, a long established Brazilian company that was one of the first companies to think about the environment and acoustic comfort by using high-quality materials to create ceiling tiles and panels. Flavio Maluf began in the trading department of Eucatex, however, he would soon see himself rapidly climbing the ladder of success within Eucatex. After a decade with the company, Maluf was appointed the president of the company. The choice to appoint Mr.Maluf president quickly saw itself to be the right movie for the company as Eucatex rapidly began to expand. This expansion and time of success were largely due to Mr.Maluf’s urge for innovation towards creating the best quality products possible.
Although the method of production for their materials has changed, one thing that has not is the pursuit to make their products as environmentally friendly as possible, a tradition that Mr.Maluf has promised to continue. Although today this practice is widely accepted and promoted, the idea was seen as novel in the 50’s when Eucatex was formed. Today, Eucatex is set to spread the message all across South America, beginning with the opening of regions first every recycling center.
Mr.Maluf’s passions don’t only revolve around business but giving back as well. MR. Maluf has donated much of his wealth to the communities of Sao Paulo and Salto County. Mr.Malu’s philanthropy has been able to fund critical services such as hospitals and basic school resources.
